“When we try to pick out something by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe”   John Muir

Artist statement:
Astronomy themes, landscapes and public art are some of the targets of my work. I grew up during the birth of the space age and my space art certainly reflects that experience. I am grateful for the views that the great telescopes of our generation bring to us. At the dawn of our civilization awakening to these amazing new images of faraway places, I, the artist, find an infinite cosmos of inspiration and creative possibilities there.

I was born in Florida and have always enjoyed painting its beautiful and varied landscape. I like to paint water themes and am drawn to the mysterious and ethereal springs of Florida, their beauty and number unique in our world. These are magical and sacred places and their conservation is critical to our survival. My landscapes are inspired by the extreme change in our environment experienced by our generation. I attempt to capture something of the beauty that is still there while expressing the emotions that witness it being lost forever.

I am mostly a self taught artist, forever teaching, forever learning, working on location and at my studio in the woods on Possum Creek in Gainesville, Florida. Always seeking the path to higher creativity, I love diving into the blank canvas, such great discoveries await us there!
